You can follow a lower-league football match on the far side of Europe live from your phone. You cannot follow the junior hurling championship ten minutes down the road. For all the coverage inter-county GAA enjoys, club games, the ones that matter most to the most people, still travel by text message and hope.
That gap has a name in every club: the PRO. The volunteer standing on the sideline, typing scores into a WhatsApp group, posting updates to X and watching them vanish down the feed within minutes. The work has always been done. The tools were never built.
SocialScór is our answer. A free live scoring platform for GAA clubs, built for the person on the sideline, launching now with early access for 50 clubs nationwide.
What is SocialScór?
SocialScór lets any GAA club score its matches live and give supporters a real-time scoreboard to follow. The club’s scorer tracks the game from their phone. Every point, goal, wide, card and substitution lands on the live scoreboard the moment it’s tapped in. The supporter in Boston sees the score as fast as the crowd on the bank.
There is no camera crew and no subscription. It is not a stream. It is the living scoreboard club GAA never had.
How live scoring works for club PROs
Setting up a match takes minutes. Pick the teams, the competition and the throw-in time, and you’re ready. If you can send a text, you can run SocialScór.
Team sheets are saved, not retyped. Enter your panel once during the week, on a laptop if you prefer, and load it at the pitch on match day. During the game, scoring is a tap: choose the score type, tap the scorer’s number, done. Points, goals, frees, 45s and 65s are all covered, with subs, cards and wides there if you want the full picture.
Supporters see it all as it happens: the live score, the match clock, and a minute-by-minute timeline of who scored what and when. Full-time results stay up all weekend, so there are no more “what did they win by?” texts on a Monday.
At the final whistle, the match report writes itself. One tap produces a full summary with scorers, subs and cards, ready for the club WhatsApp, the notes and the socials. The data is the club’s own, exportable any time.
What does it cost? Nothing.
SocialScór is completely free for clubs. No cost, no catch, no credit card, and no advertising on it either.
SocialTies exists to build digital homes for GAA communities, funded in a way that puts communities first. SocialScór extends that thinking to every club in the country: the tools club volunteers need, at no cost to the people doing the work.
Proof from the pitch
This isn’t a concept. Across two counties last weekend, 41 club championship games were scored live by club PROs through their county platforms on SocialTies, generating nearly 100,000 views and over 1,300 hours of supporters following their clubs in real time, from the terrace, the couch and the far side of the world.
The demand for club GAA was never in question. The information layer was missing. Now it isn’t.
Early access: 50 clubs nationwide
SocialScór opens with early access for 50 clubs, in time for the next round of club championship fixtures. Every registration is reviewed, and each club gets one approved scorer to keep every score trustworthy.
Places are limited, and registration stays open beyond the first 50: further clubs join the waitlist and get access as we expand.
